Owning the Lyric Masterclass/Spring Chapter Meeting

We're excited for our spring chapter meeting to feature an interactive workshop and masterclass with cabaret artists Sue Matsuki & Gregory Toroian. "So You Want to Sing Cabaret - Owning the Lyric" will focus on the topic of lyric connection, or how to make a song your own.

In addition to her performing work, Ms. Matsuki is the co-author of the book "So You Want to Sing Cabaret," and this topic is a significant chapter in the book, which is the first of its kind to examine in detail the unique vocal and nonvocal requirements for professional performance within the exciting genre of cabaret. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.

Handouts based on worksheets from the book will be sent prior to class. Every person wanting to sing in class should bring one piece of music and be prepared to sing that tune "off-book" as a full performance piece. Four names will be drawn at random to participate in the master class, and each will be offered constructive observations from both Sue and Gregory about the performance.

Tickets are $10 to the general public, and free for MDDC NATS chapter members. Check your email or our private Facebook group for the discount code.
