Mid-Atlantic Region NATS Fall 2020 Virtual Workshop: Auditions

Dear Mid-Atlantic Region NATS,
I hope this message finds you happy and healthy. I am very pleased toreport that we are going to be having a virtual Fall Workshop for youthis week.This program is a retooled version of our planned March 2020Workshop that had to be postponed due to COVID-19.This will consist of videos that you can watch at yourleisure during the week and will conclude with a live question andanswer session.The video presentations are loaded on our new MAR NATSYouTube account for your viewing this week.The theme of this workshop is Auditions and will cover NATS videoauditions, preparation for college auditions, and advice for summerprograms. In total, there are three video presentations, followed by alive question and answer session.
First, Craig Allen from Winthrop University in South Carolina willpresent: “So You Wanna Record a NATS Video…” Allen talks about optionsand gives advice regarding dress, camera and mic placement, acoustics, and other details to present your best recordings for your Online NATS Auditions. All NATS members willwant to check this out to prepare for upcoming Fall District auditions.

Next, Deedy Francis of Anderson University in South Carolina and Dr.Byron Jones of Shenandoah Conservatory in Virginia have prepared,“Rocking Your College Audition: Making a Great Impression with your Audition Video.” In this dynamic collaboration, Francis and Jones discuss best practices for high school studentspreparing to audition for colleges, giving sound advice for ourstudents. Young singers, teachers, and parents will want to tune in.

And finally, Dr. Samantha Miller of Liberty University in Virginiapresents, “Audition Tips for Young Artists Programs.” Miller covers manyfacets of the summer program auditions, including what to wear, resume and headshot advice, repertoire tips, and more. Young adults looking for summer work should not miss this one.

On Thursday, August 27 at 7PM, we will have a live Q & A with ourpresenters via Zoom. This session will also be recorded and shared from our account.
